Live Your Dream: Education & Training Awards for Women
An award for women who have the primary financial responsibility for her household, the Live Your Dream Award is for women who have overcome economic and/or personal hardships and are working toward an educational goal to build a better life for themselves and their dependents. The amount of the award varies, but typically includes a cash award of at least $1000.00 More information here.
The Soroptimist Ruby Award honors women who, through their professional or personal efforts, are making extraordinary differences in the lives of women or girls. Honorees are women who have worked to improve the lives of other women or girls. Their work has had a significant impact, and also inspires and encourages other women.
Dream It Be It
Dream It Be It is a new project, currently in the planning stages, which consists of conferences or small group mentoring to help girls discover their dreams; explore their careers; create achievable goals; rise above obstacles; turn failure into success; balance stress and put their dreams into action. The Next Step Project
The Next Step project is intended to support women and girls facing obstacles who need assistance on a more immediate basis for smaller funding requests. Soroptimist International of Carson City has established a fund that can be drawn on quickly to cover costs in a variety of ways such as for educational/training materials or clothing requirements to attend job interviews.
